How Dare You - Art by Selina Moore & Poem by Rosanna Lilley

The fumes are thick and the smoke opaque

still, through the fog one can feel it,

the glare of posterity penetrates.

Through angry young eyes;

an accusatory gaze with deserved distain.

“How dare you?”

their eyes loudly proclaim.

A cry that cuts through the pollution

that plumes and billows like smoke

from eye sockets children - hollow of hope.

It stings her eyes but she will hold this gaze.

Her generation can’t forget the incubating haze.
