Silence Is Not Neutral

I’m by no means calling you fascist

But not being one, as opposed to anti -

actively opposing - is to remain silent

in the face of a fascist state’s formation.

Which is complicity, if not collaboration.

The moral judgement of this is just because,

whether you choose to use your voice

for hate, or not at all,

there’s a moral cost either way.

Silence or calls for violence;

the outcome is the same.

Hard to hear I'm sure, but it’s true,

all it takes for evil to succeed in this world

is the silence of too many people like you.

Because that love is pretty fucking tough

we’ll save, for another time, the talk

you know, the one about how when fighting fascism,

words are not enough and militancy is just.
