Covid 19 & Western Exceptionalism

Why does the west keep ignoring the lessons learnt by Asian countries?

They have done better due to their experience with tsars - but we should have learnt from their experience of pandemics too, we could have. Knowing they have had that experience we should have been watching their response closely and taking notes. But no, we thought that despite our lack of experience, that we know it all.

We pursued our own mad herd immunity theory which will no doubt have killed people. And now we will no doubt ignore this.

Japan tried opening up after lockdown and surprise surprise, second spike of covid 19 but this has had no effect on the debate around loosening lockdown here in the UK.

Is this racism? It’s certainly some kind of Western exceptionalism and we know Britain is exceptionally exceptionalist.

And what exactly is exceptionalism, thinking you are better so others must be inferior so am I right when I say this is racist?
