There we have it. As shocking as this is to our humanity is anyone surprised Cummings has such callous indifference to others?
It really shouldn’t be.

Letting older people die helps him with something I know he is racist enough to care about.
He is probably smart/ informed enough to know that because of our ageing population we need more working age people to power the economy and I know he is racist enough to want to avoid doing what is in our self interest and also just the right thing to do - take in displaced people.
This of course means investment as first generation refugees are very traumatised and need a lot of support but it’s been shown again and again that subsequent generations are some of the hardest working people in our economy and are a net benefit. I’d love for this to be about moral duty not cost benefit analysis but I mention it as a point of fact to counter lies rather than to say it is the primary reason we should take in more refugees.
The reason is to recognise their humanity and save our own.
But to return to the economic perspective the only way Cummings probably considers these matters…
We need workers, they need a place to be.
