If you’re talking about Brexit More than mention Climate Change

If you’re talking about Brexit more than you speak about Climate breakdown you really need to reassess your priorities.

(Our view isn’t relevant to whether you should engage in such a reassessment but for clarity I’ll include it in brackets throughout the thread)

Yes Brexit was a climate denialist coup, as first documented by Desmog in 2019, but reversing Brexit will not save us or the people already displaced by environmental factors.

(We think any Lexiter that dismisses that work by Desmog needs to reassess priorities too

& Yes we know ultimately our goals would have lead to leaving the EU. Revolution was always going to be necessary to build real socialism but this is irrelevant to the point of the thread.)

To those that opposed brexit, as we did, you can still believe that this makes Brexit undemocratic, as we do but both the brexit vote and as the focus of your activism is misguided. British democracy is always as corrupt, Brexit is only part of that problem)

But also Even if you believe Rejoining the EU would combat climate breakdown do you really can be done in soon enough for that help the situation to be worth being the main topic of conversation?

(It wouldn’t help enough. At all)

If Rejoining the EU will take so long and do so little to help with the greatest political issue humanity has ever faced then how can you justify defining yourself by this cause.

(Thinking here of all the people with EU flags, #FBPE or #RejoinEU in their names.)

Please remember isaland nations are due to be swallowed by the sea with no plans in place for the people living there. - This is our challange. See blog post: Peventing Genocide vs Avoiding Extinction for more on the stakes of the threat and how that should dictate the pace at which we seek to advance change.
