LBC hung up on me.
Yesterday was very difficult. Personally and politically.
The producers from James O’Brien’s show on LBC hung up on me when I was trying to tell them this:
The Tory “rebellion" lead by Graham Brady MP and the media’s failure to identify the lie.
THREAD:
I don’t want to write it all out again so I’m going to just copy and paste my messages to @LBC and write details around it
So yeah, the producer I was speaking to from James O’Brien’s show on LBC hung up on me.
It happened when I was mid flow explaining the quality and credibility of my sources that inform my assertion that every political reporter is missing something crucial to Tory the rebellion story (not to mention our democracy) in the Theo Usherwood reported it.
(To be clear the media has almost universally missed this point) of Graham Brady MP’s back bench rebellion.
The context is missing because they all got caught up with the politics of brexit and failed to scrutinise the brexit legislation; The Withdrawal Act.
I was telling the producer about this, I explained that the sources I was citing were not fringe analysis but submissions of evidence to parliament, reports, briefings and a group signed open letter from 100 organisations;
Equalities and human rights commission
Liberty
Amnesty International
Justice
Human rights consortium
Human rights consortium of Northern Ireland
Fawcett Society
Human Rights Watch
The Law Society
The Law Society of Scotland
The Law Society of England and Wales
Public Law Project
Brexit Civil Society Alliance
Lawyers for Britain
National Aids Trust
Global Dialogue
The Thomas Paine Initiative
Then the provider of @mrjamesob’s show hung up on me.
I tried to call back, still during James O’Briens Show, but didn’t get through -
I feel it’s worth pointing out to @LBC @mrjamesob @ShelaghFogarty that when I called customer care and having heard me out I was given another email adress to try and actually commended for my perseverance and dedication to this cause. So maybe you should have heard me out, you have my number.
Anyway, I’m not sure why I’m tweeting this, I just feel so alone.
But I’m not, the Human Rights organisations, civil society and persistent parliamentarians fought till the end to defend our rights and democracy from diminution. It required the media to put prominence on this public information and they failed.
I don’t want to argue about that though and his is t about remaining, that ship has sailed, this is about it future under a government that have given themselves appallingly broad powers, powers described as “law by decree” by @BrexitCSA and that @SirGrahamBrady and co. were happy I give government forever by removing the sunset clause.
So after calling customer care I was still so frustrated and confused, so I texted my phone number with this message:
This talk of freedom ties in with the reason Brady and co CLAIM to take issue with these coronavirus act powers.
You will not find someone else that will say what I need to say.
And it's impossible to argue that what I need to say doesn't meet the public interest test.
Remember your purpose; It's about what is the public's interest not what the public is interested in.
This is not about arguing to remain it's about our future under a government that pulled off an unprecedented power grab under the nose of the news.
Liberty & Amnesty International Joint briefing on withdrawal agreement bill. "The bill's unprecedented delegation of legislative powers to the executive represents a serious constitutional problem. The government has not made a case for why such broad ill-defined powers are necessary"
Then I added
The text going on about the Withdrawal Act is me, Rosanna. I can't understand why James O'Brien's producers hung up on me and I don't understand why it's not a priority for you to get someone as informed as my self on to communicate something that is absent from the conversation. I just don't understand. Well my number is +447584211159 please do this. Please. It's wrong that they are getting away with misrepresenting themselves so egregiously. And it's maddening that all I need is for some one to listen to me then act on what I tell them and have it inform their analysis of U.K. politics because this colours the context of everything and nothing can be understood as what it is without that context.
