Thoughts and poems on the Uyghur Genocide.
This is a genocide happening before our eyes.
There is no veil, no disguise,
nothing behind which we can hide and deny
our inaction
our silence,
our rank hypocrisy
We’ve crossed the line.
Way past the point
of plausible deniability
It’s bare, overt,
So big, it blocks out the light
we can see all too clearly
but this desperate world just keeps on turning
-blind
blind eyes.
In writing this poem I also came up with a poem about writing poems opposing the genocide of Uyghur Muslims by the CCP/PRC
- which I will perform at Nike stores until Nike confirm that their products are not produced by enslaved Uyghurs.
Declaration for the salvation of my own soul.
I will use my voice as a poet for this cause,
this action I take to save my own soul.
this commitment deserves no applause.
I have a skill; In verse I give truth melody
to deepen its roots in your memory.
telling theirs at the top of my voice itsnt laudable
it’s just silence would be so deplorable.
So this, this is the bare minimum,
To do what I do with the tools of my discipline,
- to use them for the Uyghurs,
silenced by the CCP and denied by its leaders -
is the very fucking least I can do.
This other poem is a statement of commitment to the cause of the Uyghur population.
Uygher Muslims are, right now, under genocidal attack by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) which I condemn utterly.
My rejection of it is visceral, it’s physical, the welling of anger at both the perpetrators and spectators, is a festering sickness in my gut. I want to be Descriptive of the depth of my feeling and so very clear about how strongly I feel about this and with equal clarity I wish put on the record, The disclaimer that; the fact I am a Marxist/ socialist gives me no hesitation whatsoever in issuing such a condemnation.
None.
Period.
I see nothing desirable in their cruel and oppressive regime and any world I wish to build would never look like life in the PRC. (People’s Republic of China- the regime as opposed to China, the country, full of many people that , I’m sure, also oppose this terrible genocide and many more that would oppose it if they knew about it due to censorship it’s hard to know to what degree the public is tolerating the genocide of their countrymen. I personally trust that there are many Chinese people, of all ethnicities, who would be just as disgusted As I if they knew the truth.)
