The Storm Approaches

We are in for more drought.

Wake up. Be in no doubt,

soon food insecurity

will become a stark reality.

With groundwater loss

we're passing thresholds we shouldn't cross.

Made worse with soil degradation.

Compromising our capacity to feed the nation.

This is what awaits us if we stay on this course, if

we keep pillaging the planet for resources

Then lack of food is just the start

of what a warmer climate will do. It aches, my heart.

My heart aches for the future, for the foetus.

In Britain climate change may not yet really affect us

but rest assured, it's coming as the world keeps getting warm,

Looming like an approaching storm.
