Apology to Orisa
Orisa,
I want to apologise. Considering my mistakes and the many misunderstandings I can understand not having much time for me. I will not attempt to explain or justify the misunderstandings.
All I wish to do is tell you that, especially now I understand that your campaign had a focus on exposing particular racists is by design.
I’m mortified that I waded in with my opinion without having read the basic info about your campaign. I just started supporting it because I saw black women being given a shit time and then I fucked it up.
There are some interpretations of my words expressed that are not true through and I do accept every Criticism (at least think a few people were a too harsh in communicating) from every one of your supporters.
More importantly though I want to recognise the arguably racist thing I see in what I did, which was wading in to discuss the approach of a black womans campaign without having read about it. I think it could have easily happened with a white campaigner but it’s something I need to watch and will continue to reflect on.
Given that campaign’s content and aim is specific to you’re experiences my discussion of the approach taken to a range of levels of racists that could use the same phrases were an irrelevant interruption in your campaigns activity for which I apologise.
As your campaign is about specific racists not racism in general, and therefore entirely about the authors of the post I now totally understand why it wasn’t the place for my questions and reflections on such matters and it’s understandable that it was percieved as a defence of this awful Nigel bastard.
Though my contribution was motivated by the knowledge that we must listen to black voices to be good advocates and I supported your campaign in the first place because I am an anti racist, I just made a Dumb mistake.
I have tried to avoid explaining myself because I thought it would be better but if Orisa finds this evasive and do want me to clarify anything My Twitter DM’s are open.
