BBC Newsnight hit an unforgivable low: British War Crimes

(Disclaimer: I do not want the BBC abolished, like with the House of Lords, advocating for that would be playing into the hands of the government.)

How, just HOW? Can the BBC be so useless? ‬

‪Their coverage of the accusations of breaches of human rights by British forces in Afghanistan is their most egregious failure yet.
The stupid thing is that BBC’s own Panorama Has already made an excellent documentary all about it.

Two serious omissions are what make their coverage outrageous.‬

The documentary tells how Theresa May cynically used the example of one investigator breaking rules to justify shutting down the whole of IHAT, the investigation team that did find evidence of cover ups of torture and murder which were never taken forward.

BBC Newsnight failed to mention this and instead just said that the investigation didn’t result in anything.

They are either so incompetent that anyone involved in preparing that segment should be fired or, through omission, are protecting the government.

The higher ups in the BBC are disproportionally Tory.
Now, while I always try to temper my conspiratorial wonderings I have been observing BBC coverage obsessively for years and the conclusion of conspiracy, or more likely a cowardice in the face of a government that wants to destroy it and the reactionary forces in politics today, is becoming inescapable.

The other horrifying omission is that of that change to the law coming that would exempt the armed forces from adhering to the Human Rights Act.

Not mentioning that is inexcusable.

I will make a video featuring clips from newsnight and the heart rending Panorama Documentary.

Failing to join the dots, which obviously means you aren’t giving the full context, is the other main failure I have observed in the BBC and wider media.

I’m furious.

This is just not fucking on.
